Classic/Antique Car Repair: ENGINE SMOKE, flap valve, pvc valve

Question
I have a 1965 ford mustang 289/2v original motor that blows smoke out of the breather cap and the highway tube that runs under the car. The car runs great, but when sitting idle smoke overcomes front of the car. There is no pvc valve but a hose on the back of the carb with a flap valve that looks like a morse code button. Thats about as much info I can give about the problem, if you can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer
"blow-by" is the beginning of worse things to come. You are starting to get a little 'compression' into your oil oan area by it "blowing-by" the rings.

This can stay in its present state for many months, or go down hill steadily.

Thicker oil helps and the products for engine 'blow-by' are just that. We have a piece of equipment we have been running 20w-50 oil in for two years.
