Classic/Antique Car Repair: A833 Reverse light switch 70 swinger, reverse light switch, jb weld

Question
I've replaced the reverse light switch in my trans. after installing the new switch, it appears that the actuator in the trans is not making contact with the ball on the switch. I did check the old switch for continuity and the switch was toast, possibly from lack of use. I even added 1/4 inch of length to the ball with some JB weld and still no contact. Does this trans have to come out and have a part replaced or is there a fix?

Answer
At this point in time I think that at least the transmission pan needs to come off so that you can get a look up there. The control valve assembly and the linkage can be serviced with the transmission in the car. Make sure that there is a part of the linkage that comes over and depresses the ball on the end of the switch.
