Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1972 Mercury Comet GT Series, mercury comet gt, ford mercury

Question
I was wondering if I could get a how to on replacing the starter in my 1972 Mercury Comet GT Series. It has a 302 engine, V8. Where is the starter located? If under the car, where?

Answer
Honestly, I have never seen one, but the starter is located at the bottom of the engine facing the flywheel. You can find it by following the Positive battery cable from the battery, thru the soleniod, down to the starter. It will have two or three bolts, usually horizontal on a Ford (Mercury) engine block. It is one of the easiest parts on a car to change.

Be sure you disconnect the Positive cable to the battery before working on it, as you will contact the wire post in this process.
