Classic/Antique Car Repair: convertible top repair, bmw e30 convertible, 318i bmw

We have a 1992 318I BMW E30 convertible. The rear vinyl window is coming apart from the seams - almost about to rip out completely. Do you have any recommendations for repairing it ourselves? We wanted to try to find some strong thread and needle somewhere (we live in the Metro D.C. area). We are going to sell it soon, so don't want to pay to have the whole top replaced. Thanks!!

if I were going to do it, I would get a curved upholstry needle (available in most large needle packages) and 15# monofiliment fishing line. If you wanted a white or black, they do still sell a woven fishing line this is "cloth" and comes in black and a patterned white.

NOTE TO THE WISE: Use a thimble !
