Classic/Antique Car Repair: Ford 250 6cyl, blown head gasket, vacuum leak

Question
Had the engine running fine.  Drove it to shop about 30 mins away with no problem.  No had to tow home with according to shop little to no compression.  Engine will start/run but rocks and rolls like it's going to come out of the car!  No motor mount is bad.  Don't know what to start with except that it most likey does have low compression based on guy at shop testing.

Answer
first and foremost check the firing order. If they ran a compression test, they would have moved the wires. Make sure they are correct. Then check for a bad distributor cap. Visually inspect the inside for cracks and carbon build up.

Next check for vacuum leak in all hoses and fittings.

After elimanating all of this, you can start looking to bad timing or blown head gasket.

Why did you take it to the shop in the first place?
