Classic/Antique Car Repair: HORN PROBLEMS ON 1962 T-BIRD, stering wheel, artist brush

Question
QUESTION: when i depress the horn ring the horns sometimes wont shut off. Also when i turn the turn signal lever the horns get activated again. The relay is good. Problem appears to be in the stering column. I no I have to pull the wheel off. But will the wires be exposed to me when I remove the P.D.N face plate.   PLease help.  Larry

ANSWER: Larry, I do not think that you have to remove the PDR face plate. I think that once the steering wheel is off the directional switch and the horn contacts will be right there. It sounds like the top column bearing is loose or the directional switch is either loose or worn out.

Answer
There is a product on the market called Liquid Tape. It is sold in most parts stores and is a room temperature self vulcanizing rubber/silicon. I have had success using this product with a small artist brush to repair insulation on wire that are hard to get to. I think this will do the trick for you.
