Classic/Antique Car Repair: alternator idiot light???, auto parts store, auto zone

Question
My 1969 chevelle idiot light is staying on(gets brighter as you rev the engine).  I've replaced the alternator. I had the old one tested. They told me that it was charging O.K. but the diode triad was not functional.  I will be replacing the diode triad in the old (chrome) alternator. Meanwhile I'm having the same problem with the new alternator. Someone suggested replacing the voltage regulator?  Do you agree? Any other solutions or trial and error suggestions.  THANKS!!

Answer
Yes, I think it might be the voltage regulator, but it could also be other things. My advice is to take it to your local auto parts store that advertises that they will test your charging system for you free - if you buy whatever parts you need there.  Auto-Zone does it, at least where I live.  Probably other places do too.
