Classic/Antique Car Repair: 67 Mustang back-up light switch install, shift levers, 1967 mustang

Question
Mr.Benjamin,I am restoring a 1967 mustang and cannot figure out where to install the back-up light switch to the three speed manual transmission. When I purchased the car,it had back-up lights, but no back-up light switch.Could you please help?

Answer
You don't tell me which type of shifter you have, but I can tell you that there should be a switch mounted either at the base of the steering column, right where the shift levers come out of the column (if you have column shift) or right under the shift lever in the console, if you have a floor shift.  The switch gets it's button pushed in when the shifter is put into reverse - that turns on the backup lights. If that switch  is missing, you'll have to find one and figure out how to mount and adjust it so the backup lights work.
