Classic/Antique Car Repair: routine maintenance, mileage requirements, routine maintenance

Question
I have a 2003 Mercedes 500SL.  I put about 2,500 miles on this car a year.  Should I follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the intervals for routine maintenance?

Answer
Depends on if you are trying to keep a warranty intact or just care for the care.

I have had many diesels including Mercedes, but the two I have now are not. They have 400,000 miles and 250,000 on them, I do oil changes at 3000 miles and filters when needed. I have never done any other maintenance to either and would drive either on across country today on a moments notice.

Not sure exactly what maintenance they recommend and what you are shooting for. The problem with low mileage on vehicles varies with the region and climate you are in.

If you never hit mileage requirements for some maintenance, common sense will tell you to change the fluids over time rather than mileage. Other than that, I see nothing needed.
