Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1968 Camaro Convertible, 1968 camaro, chevrolet camaro

Question
 Hello,  my father has a car that has been sitting out in our garage for the past 5 years.  It was sitting over 25 years in an old shed before that.  It is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 327 SB.  The body is still in remarkable shape, with little to no rust after all of these years.  I am sure the engine needs rebuilding, but I do not know whether it would be cheaper to do it myself (with help) or to take it into a garage.  What does it typically cost to have an engine redone in a shop?  Time is not an issue, experience would be the only thing I am lacking, but I have friends to assist me.  Thanks,

Alex

Answer
Alex;
sorry for taking so long, had trouble at home. first off the car is probably worth a few bucks, with the orig. motor. I would say if you were to have it stock rebuilt you might find a place  at 1,500.00 or so  keep that block it must be all original.  if You took it to a shop you will get ripped off. you have to find a good name brand shop.
you will have to change all belts, hoses,fuel lines,brake lines,brake cyld. as all those parts are all rotted or will have weak spots. you might need a new radeator or yours cleaned out good.  if you get some good books from a store you will get it done and do not rush get back any time ok
is it a s/s or what size 327 ? is it a auto or 4 speed
