Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1957 T-Bird, thunderbird club, southern cal

Question
I have a 57 T-bird and drove it into my garage for 2 years, prior to that I have only driven it 5 or 6 times in the last 20 years.
I live in Southern California and am moving to Houston Texas. Where can I take it to get it referbished? It is all stock. Should I get it rebuilt in Calif, then transport it to Texas, or get it re built there?

Answer
I really cannot mention any shop by name - I am sure there are competent mechanics in both locations.  My advice, since this process will no doubt take a long time, is to wait until you get to your new home, then join the local chapter of the Thunderbird club and get acquainted with other owners.  Some will have axes to grind, so be careful, but if you listen and watch, you will quickly learn where the competent folks are, and which ones to watch out for.

Good Luck.  I hope the car has AC!
