Classic/Antique Car Repair: Vacuum Hose Routing, vacuum gauge, cruise speeds

Question
'65 Impala SS 327, Powerglide, Edelbrock intake & carb. Vacuum port in manifold behind carb connects to distributor, vacuum guage and tranny.  Not sure if they are connected in correct order.  Vacuum gauge doesn't read over 20" at idle.  Also at cruise speeds car does not run smooth until accelerating.  (Might be distribtor problem)

Hi did you try to switch them around ? I would first check distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser, gap, wires. than the plugs, than the timing, than I would adjust. the carb. ok.is there a pcv valve on it, if so is it clean.
also did you check for any cracks in any hoses.
