Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1972 Chevy Caprice Seat Belt Door Ajar Buzzer Sound, 1972 chevy caprice, buzzer sound

Question
Hi Dick,
First off I want to thank you for answering the other two questions that I have asked you,I really appreciate it!
Okay,I just wanted to know where might I look to make my car have the Seat Belt or Door Ajar Buzzer Sound?Would it be a fuse or relay?I know for a fact that this year came with it,so I'm not sure if it is just a burnt fuse or something. The car only has 61,000 original miles on it and it looks like a came straight from the dealership,so I am sure that little rascal is here somewhere.
Take care!

Answer
Probably the only way to find out for sure where the buzzers were located is to get a shop manual for it.  My guess would be that they are plugged into the fuse panel, alongside the fuses and circuit breakers that are used for other functions.  Most folks who bought these cars new had the dealer unplug and discard those buzzers before the car ever left the lot - I know I did that myself on many cars for folks.  Take a look at your fuse panel to see if there are any empty receptacles with two or three prongs, something like a flasher receptacle -if so, and if you can find one of the buzzers, I'd just plug one in there to see if it sounds off when you want it to.

Otherwise, watch eBay for a shop manual, or contact one of the literature dealers and buy one directly.  I use Ed Faxon at www.faxonautolit.com, but there are many others.

Good luck!

Dick
