Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1948 Ford Coupe, door latch, ford coupe

I need to find the location where the VIN might be stamped on the frame of this car. This project has been through many hands and I am going to finish {I hope} There is nothing left on the firewall, the doors are in primer, I will be taking the body off soon and am hoping I can find the VIN    Thanks   Richard

Hi - well as far as the vin, it could be mounted any place. did you look on the door and door latch areas, also on the engine compartment area, by the radeator or back fire wall ? and ther might be a tag on the rear end on one of the bolts. or tranny. but if not, get the engine numbers off the block and all other numbers that you can find, I will try to track them down for you., but even though if you cant find any thing , or do you have the regastration ?
I know that you can still go threw a few things and forms from the d.m.v. that you can even get on line at the D.M.V. forms section that will allow you to get it regestered.
