Classic/Antique Car Repair: 51 chevy body work, body man, shims

Question
My husband has been restoring a '51 Chevy P/U for as long as I've known him!!  He's had lots of challenges with trying to find the right people to help him get it done right...we're not rich by any stretch of the imagination but he is very precise and likes things done well and has always agreed to pay a fair price for work done...the poor guys been ripped off twice!!  Now he's working on it with a friend of a friend kind of deal. The guys a body man but not on classic stuff.  The problem now is that the hood doesn't line up properly and no one that we've consulted seems to know what to look for or what to do...please help me help him.  He's so frustrated that he can't even see straight!!  Thanks for any advise or directions you can give.

HI  well I think that it has shims on the brackets. also the hood should move a lil if the bolts are loose. the same with the latch. you can use washers for shims  to lift the hood or to lift the fenders. or you can use front end  spacers if you have some.  ok
