Classic/Antique Car Repair: xk120 jag w/ drum brakes, friction pad, drum brakes

Question
on the front drum brakes on a 1952 jaguar xk120, how tight should the self adjustor bar friction pad bolt be tightened?

Answer
Hi Joe,
Are you talking about the adjuster for the brake shoes? If so, you tighten it until you lock up the brake so you can't turn the wheel by hand then loosen it until it can be turned easily but you can just hear the shoes lightly rubbing the drum but the wheel is easily turned by hand. Then pump the brake pedal and adjust one more time.
