Classic/Antique Car Repair: how to change fuel filter on 1987 jaguar xj6, air flow meter, fuel pressure regulator

When I got ready to change fuel filter it said on the filter that I needed to deprizurize the fuel system do you know how to do that?

Hi Keith,
If the engine was just run the system can still have fuel pressure in it. Connect a "mighty vac" to the vacuum port of the fuel pressure regulator and pump up vacuum on it. This will open the fuel to the return line (to the left tank if the key is off) Otherwise, you will need a hand full of shop rags in the floor of the spare wheel well.
After you install the new filter be sure to check for fuel leaks. The filter is large and so you don't have to use the starter so much you can open the front of the air flow meter by sliding the air filter forward and turn the ign. key to just "ON" and reach in the front of the air flow meter with one finger and push open the door of the air flow meter. This actives the fuel pump which will fill the filter. Then reinstall the air filter and if there are no leaks replace the spare tire and cover.
