Classic/Antique Car Repair: ignition switch, small pin, key switch

Question
I want to replace the ignition switch on my 69 Impala, I took steering wheel off and removed signal cam and unbolted sleeve. I found I wasn't getting to far and it got late so I put it back together. My Chilton book says I don't have to do all that but it doesn't get into to much detail. Any info would be appreciated, Thanx.

Answer
Mike;
 HI  I guess you had a wheel puller , if not you were lucky. I  do not remember if you have to do all of that but you should not have to remove much more, and I think the key must be in or you must push a small pin or rod into the key switch itself. if you can go to the library or a book store and they should have the info that you could check it out.I wish I could help you more with it. let me know if you need anything else.  ok
