Classic/Antique Car Repair: Imperial no start, throttle position sensor, volt supply

Question
I purchased a 1981 imperial with 36,000 original miles still fuel injected. I have spark, no fuel, rear fuel pump runs when key is first turned on ,bypassed asdm module, power to power module and sensors, only .45 volts to control pump even with fuel switch gruonded. I think the power module is bad but am not that use to this  system. Also if power module is bad how to fix or replace it? Any information would be appreciated.

Answer
Check the 23 volt power output from the power module to see if that part of the power module is OK.  This is on one of the pins in the 7 pin connector on the power module, but the easy way to test for it is to check for 23 volts on the throttle position sensor connector- it is the violet wire, as I recall.

If the 23 volt supply has failed, you will have to have the power module repaired or replaced.

I advise you to join the on-line Imperial club for more help - there are many people in the group who are familiar with these cars, and some of them have spare parts for sale.

The club is free- contact them at www.imperialclub.com

Those are delightful cars when they run right, and a royal pain in the backside when they don't!
