Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1977 Nova Ignition switch, problem occured, lock smith

Question
My ignition switch has problems turning all the way clockwise into the starting position. (I have the proper original keys/copies which are not worn out.)

It will turn counter clockwise for acessories, clockwise the first click to unlock, the second click for "on" but it gets stuck moving into the spring loaded starting postion. (It feels "locked", however you can still move it backwards.)

This situation occured when the switch turned all the way to the start position but when it would return back to the "on" postion it was moving with resistance. When I tried starting it again, thats when this problem occured.

Your help would be much appreciated.

I would go to chevy and get  or order a new key switch , you might be able to use your key lock cyld. if you have trouble with it a lock smith can fit it to your keys cheep.  ok
but I would get and put in a new switch before it falls apart and shorts out on you ..
