Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1976 4-speed Corvette Posi-unit, clutch pack, posi unit

Hi Roger:
 On my 1976 corvette positraction unit:Is it a simple job of just replacing my old clutch pack with a new one or is it a more complicated precedure?
Someone told me it had to be shimmed up a special way,but a new clutch pack comes with new discs and shimms.It doesn't seem that big a job.

 HI , well as far as the clutch ,psi/plt. it is not that hard , and you should also replace the throw out bearing.
and check the spline berg.   with all new parts you should have no trouble.
 it is a bit of  work  to do at home or in the drive way.
but it can be done with no trouble..
