Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1957 Chevy Bel Air Wiring issue, chevy bel air, 1957 chevy bel air

Question
Roger,
I am completely re-wiring my 1957 chevy Bel Air.  I'm stuck right now trying to wire my after market harness on the headlight wiring switch.  The switch has 8 different spots for wires to connect to it.  My shop manual only shows 7.  I was wondering if you know which wires connect to which open spot on the headlight switch.  Please let me know if you need a picture of this harness.  Also, do you know how the light switch should be grounded?  (should there be a ground wire on one of the pins?  or is it just grounded with the insulation of the switch?)
Thank you for your time.
Jay

Answer
Jay;
  Hi  you are replacing the harness- wow lots of work there. as far as the wireing of the switch, I would use a test lamp and do it that way as far as the ground , on chevys they have the ground when it is mounted to the dash.
what happened to the old switch harness , if you have the plug that goes into the switch you should be able to see the way that the wires go in the book.I might have a better idea with the photo of it.ok
