Classic/Antique Car Repair: 56 Buick sitting since 1990 rebuild, dick benjamin, buick riviera

Question
My brother rebuilt the engine and tranny in 1990.

It's been sitting garaged since then. I'm going to get it running. I'll follow procedures I've used before on a 70s engine and the procedures I read in an email from Dick Benjamin. He was advising somebody on how to work on a 63 Buick Riviera that had been sitting for 35 years.

What I want to ask you is this: Since my brother had the engine running 15 years ago would you think I'd have to remove the radiator and gas tank and have them "professsionally" cleaned?

The coolant is right where it should be and nice and green. No leaks.

The gas tank I'm planning on dropping but unless you think it necessary to have it blasted I'll clean it myself the way I cleaned a 55 Chevy truck tank: I washed it out at home, let it dry, fixed a leak, and it's as good as new.

Let me know what you think. Thanks

Hi - If I were you and if you say that it is that clean   , I would do a PSI test on the rad. and see if there are any leaks, etc. and flush it out good. as far as the gas tank - I would clean it out good and if there is /no or little rust than I would clean it myself.and check it out good, blow out the fuel lines , change the oil/filter and change all engine filters- gas, air, etc. replace all belts and hoses put in a new thermastat , plugs- squirt a bit of   liquid wrench in the carb and each cyld. if needed .and replace dist. cap wires etc.and do not forget to change the tranny fluid too.
