Classic/Antique Car Repair: fuel filter 1977 302 Ford F-100, ford f 100, carbeurator

Question
Is there an in-line fuel filter on a 77 Ford F-100 (302)?  I have replaced the one next to the carbeurator and replaced the fuel pump, but still cannot get fuel to the carbuerator.  I have looked down the line along the rail and cannot find one.  I suspect there may be one on top of the fuel tank.

Answer
I do not believe there is any filter other than the one you found.  I'd guess that if there is no gas coming through, there is a blockage in the fuel line from the fuel pump back to the tank, or else the lines are reversed on the fuel pump.  Double check your fuel line connections, and if those are OK, the next step is to remove the gas cap and blow back into the fuel line at the fuel pump inlet.  You should hear bubbles rising in the fuel tank - if you cannot blow into the line, the line is blocked.  If you can blow easily, but hear no bubbles, either the tank is too low on fuel to cover the outlet line, or the fuel line is disconnected or has a leak in  it.

It is always possible that the blockage is inside the tank, also.  You can blow into the fuel outlet on the tank fairly easily on that truck, just follow the fuel line coming out of the tank - disconnect it and blow directly into the fitting on the tank.
