Classic/Antique Car Repair: Three questions, windshield washer pump, drip oil

Question
Hi Roger.
Re. my 64 Pontiac 230 6cyl.
The 'Armstrong' steering feels different when I am on the highway. There seems to be more play and the steering wheel moves more.
1.)I have been told this is the way it is with non power steering. Is this true? It has some new steering parts but hasnt had a wheel alignment.Would this help?
2.)Also,there is a little oil that gets on the engine block that sprays out of the  oil cap.Just a bit after a few days driving.
I have been told that this is also normal for this engine. Is this correct?
3.) The windshield washer pump isnt giving me any fluid.I can hear it working, and there is some fluid coming out. I was told that since its been sitting for so long the seals are dry and need to get wet, either that or it needs to be primed.Just keep pushing the button. My hands are getting sore!

Ok -  well first off the older cars front end parts would wear out a lot faster than the new cars, and as far as the play - yes the alignment will help you a bit , and any thing that is worn out on the front end should be replaced.
The oil cap - I think that they ALL did that and drip oil on the ground also. I use to clean the cap out with some gas .
the washer - you might need some new hoses , and the ends might be plugged up so stick a pin in the end where the fluid squrwts on the window . it should come out.
