Classic/Antique Car Repair: Inside door panel, needle nose pliers, window cranks

Question
Hi again Roger and thanks for the previuos help with my 64 Pontiac.
There is something rattling inside the passenger door, and I need to take the locks off to get re keyed.
How do I take the upholstery panels off? Do I just pull them off,and get new clips and put them back on?Do I remove the window cranks first and how?
Thanks.

Hi- well as far as the door panel you can take off any philps head screws that you see that hold the panel down and as far as the handels there is a small clip it looks a bit like a horseshoe this must be removed or pushed back there should be one on the window handle and one on the door lever. there is a tool for the job but it can be done w/o try a small slim screwdriver and some needle nose pliers. the panel will come off and the carpet is part of the panel-so do not try to rip it off the panel. you must take the two handels off first than the screws and than the push clips you can get new clips if any break.or you could put self taping screws in place of them if you wanted to.than there will be some plastic and / or tar paper in back of the panel if none there it was removed by someone else,  once the panel is off you will see into the door. spray the inside of the door lock with some wd-40 or  lube type spray than be careful when you remove the lock and the indside push down lock so you do not bend or break it.ok it is not a big deal. ok
