Classic/Antique Car Repair: Engine/Tranny swap, straight info, bellhousing

Question
Hi Roger,
I have a 64 Biscayne with a blown straight 6 in it and 3 speed tranny. Accordong to the VIN it had a V-8 (probably a 283) when it was built. I want to replace the 6 with a 350. My main question is....will my flywheel and bellhousing from the 6 fit the 350? According to Chevy they will fit a 283. Since the 350 is pretty much the same I thought it may fit. I have been getting pro's and cons to this so if you could give me the straight info I'd appreciate it greatly. Also since the car is equipped with a generator I am going to re-wire the entire car for an AC generator (the true name of an alternator) and since we are talking 42 year old wiring here I figured it would be a good idea to re-wire. Any and all help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know  the presh. plate  will fit also . I would use a new clutch set up . the bellhousing should fit .make shure the clutch  arm. pin / mount is on the v-8 prior to instaling the engine , it will be harder to do when the engine is in.I would also use new motor mounts .
I think that the shift linkg. will also fit as it should not hit anything.you will have to get all new ex. pipes ,starter motor.muffler ,as far as the alt. you should have no trouble with it ,it is only a small output type.and now a days there are so many places on the web that sell kits for all type of swaps, you can find anything .
