Classic/Antique Car Repair: quadro jet carb 4 barrel, vacuum modulator, olds toronado

hi i have a 1967 olds toronado and someone played around with the vacuum lines and now it doesnt shift out of 1st.is it possible to draw a simple diagram to show where the lines are suppose to go on carb.there are only a coule of lines and im not sure which 1 is which. thanks in advance

There is a vacuum modulator on the transmission which controls the downshift, but if your tranmission won't shift out of 1st gear, there is a problem in the transmission or else the shift lever is in 1st gear.

You should hook up the vacuum modulator to intake manifold vacuum (the same place the brake booster is connected to the intake manifold), but I don't think that is going to do you any good with your main problem.

If you are sure the shift lever linkage is adjusted right, so that you are really in drive when you think you are, then you need to take it to a transmission shop and have them diagnose the problem.
