Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1966 mustang brakes, good shoes, brake shoes

Question
I "inherited" a '66 Mustang (sorry, not a Chevy)while I was in Iraq this year.  I just returned and I am trying to turn it into a decent "driver" for my son and I. Yesterday the left front drum brake started to drag.  It makes a "scraping" sound when I press the brake pedal.

I was replacing the shocks today and noticed that the right front wheel spins freely like it should, but the left wheel does not.  It appears that the brake shoes are stuck?  Can I remedy this?

What are some good books to buy?  I am just getting into this project.

Answer
Hea Shawn;
          My Son is over there now in the USMC for 5 yrs.
 now, I was in the army as I got drafted to go to nam but I did not pass the exam , as  I had allergies so  I inlisted for 4 yrs. anyways. well if the brakes are draging  and scrape/make scratching sounds etc. you need brake  shoes, that is not that costly at all, so get some good shoes , do not get the cheepest ones get the mid range price brakes , and riveted  not bonded.and you will have to get the front rotors/drums cut at a auto store. that is a must. As far as books you can go to the library and look up all you want in the TMs that they have , they are not cheep so look at the librarys books, and you can find all you want on anything and everything on the web all you have to do is type it in and do a serch, ok and good luck to you.
Roger,   ps get back if you need more info.
