Classic/Antique Car Repair: 66 nova ignition switch, bringer of bad news, internal mechanism

Question
I feel stupid for needing to ask for help since I restored this car (and several others) from the ground up, but I can't figure out how to replace the ignition switch cylinder on my 66 nova without the key.  every manual states how to do it with the key, nowhere have I seen what to do if you don't have the key.  I have taken the wiring connecter off, and even removed the internal mechanism from the rear leaving only the housing and the actual original cylinder in the dash.  the entire unit will not come out without the cylinder being removed, which I see no way of doing.  any help would be greatly appreciated.  By the way, I have had the car for 18 years and evidently never thought it was necessary to make a spare key.  pretty smart.

Answer
Sorry to be so slow in responding - the site must have been down or else had some problem, as I haven't been receiving questions for about a week - now I get a bunch all at once!

Anyway, I'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but you must have the right key to get the lock cylinder out.  Your only way out if you cannot find the key is to take the lock to a locksmith and have him make another key for you.  Your door key should be the same, that might be easier to get out.
