The cylinder head has turned porous, any ideas?   Replacing is a difficult option.
Answer -
Hea Matt.
        Nice bike, can you get it sand blasted and than re plated or what ever finish re-done ?.but cover the inside so it will not get messed up.
It wasn't plated, the oil is coming from the inside to out.   Is plating an option?   Is there a resin bath or such like that can soak from the inside and then harden?

Matt
     If you have oil comming from the side you have a bad gasket , can you get a new one and replace it, and as far as the head it will have to come off to have it plated , or at least cleaned properly , or can you tighten up on all nuts around the head and touqre the head down again to see if that stops the leak , there is nothing you can put into the motor to stop that condition .There is nothing that you can add to it to fix it and do not let anyone tell you there is , I have yet to see a bike (even ) Harleys with a few years on them that do not have at least one oil leak , but if it gets bad , you fix it. ok. there is no easy way when it comes to gaskets like that one. I allmost got one like that when I was overseas in the ARMY in the olden days.
LOL ....
It is definitely not the gasket as the leak is three fins up from where the head meets the barrels.   I will look into plating but what do I plate with?   This leak renders the bike unusable but at least my boots are now waterproof and the machine is getting a constant oil change.   I am in the Army now, you ever serve in Europe?

Hea Matt;
       Dam that might be the same bike that I was going to buy ? in GERMANY in 1976-77 I was at a NATO nuclear site about a hour away from Augsburg as we were on a German air base.Schwabstadal Kaserrnee ? As far as plating it, that has to be sent out, so being where you are you are a bit limited to parts and stuff right ?, you can try ( J.C. Whitney.com)and tell them Roger Warrington told you to use them OK as they have all types of stuff, all you need I think .You can get a new head from them I think or you can get stuff to make it black wrinkle finish or what ever . I had some of the best times over there I wish I was back right now, the beer, the woman, and other stuff.I went to Munchen to see PINK FLOUD in consert it was wild.Hea where ever you are try to learn to speak the lingo as the woman like it more. If you get leave go to Ansterdam as everything goes there its wild. My SON is in the war now he is a MARINE I was in the ARMY , Hes a MP. but hes doing real good he is a e-6 in 4 years and in the marines that is hard. As in war you get rank faster. He was going to be in the Presadents helecoptor in washington but it never happened so he is no getting in some trigger time I guess.I was lucky as I was drafted during V.Nam but I was still in school so I joined a bit later.well take care

Thank you for your time, I am in the British Army serving in UK, odd I get more help from outside the UK about old Brit iron than from within.   I served 7 years in Germany and have spent all my adult life so although the women were there, the fear of castration put me off.   I am now fighting a paper war flying a desk, my next job will be a real flying one I hope.
