Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1968 mercury monterey, lower ball joints, auto salvage yards

Question
I have a 1968 Mercury Monterey, that has 44,126 miles on it. It needs a new windshield, carpet, both upper and lower ball joints, and pretty much  new fenders, hood, front bumper and everything else up front. I was just wanting to know is this a car I should keep and fix up, or should I do what I bought the car for, and that is make a race car out of it. I paid $100 for it, and in kansas where I live, I can't seem to find the parts I need for it. It has a 390 4v with auto trans., ac, and alot of other luxuries.

Answer
Chris,
This vehicle may be worth restoring if you have the time and money. You might want to search around on the internet to see what a vehicle like this would sell for if restored. There are a few auto salvage yards around the country that sell parts for older vehicles, it may take some time finding the right one. If the interior and the engine are in good shape you might find someone who is looking for the same make and model to restore and will give a few hundred for the vehicle.
