Classic/Antique Car Repair: Cooling System for 1967 Cougar, radiator hoses, steel braided hoses

Question
I have recently purchased a 1967 cougar with a stock 289 ci engine. The car sat in storage for about 4 years without being driven. I replaced all the fluids/plugs/filters ect. I took it out over the weekend with no significant problems. However, on Sunday the upper radiator hose blew. There is a small hole in the bend of the hose. When I got the car there was several boxes of "spare" parts and remembered that there were a couple of radiator hoses in one of the boxes. When I went to look at them I found that two other radiator hoses had holes in the exact same place. Can you tell me if this is a serious problem and if it can be fixed? The last thing I want is it to happen far from home. Would using steel braided hoses help? If so, do I run any risks of this build up in pressure trying to release in another spot? (such as a gasket).

Thanks for considering my question -

Answer
HI;
Michal, No it is not a problem it happens when hoses get old. and it just so happend that your hose had the holes in the same place, as the only time that you would worry about that is if the hose was rubbing on something and a steel hose would be great for that but you should have no problem at all just get a good new hose . I would replace ALL hoses on it as it sat so long. than you will be fine, Did  you flush the rad. / cooling system out and add new coolent ?
if not I would do so, than you should be just fine. As with any car that has been sitting around for a bit , you will have a few things go wrong till all the lil bugs get out.
