Classic/Antique Car Repair: Master cylinder, manual brakes, brake car

Question
I just did the brakes on my 54 ford it has manual brakes but I can't get any more than half pedal I changed the master cyl and repaced it with one a friend just took off so I know its good however he had power brakes on hi car with a stock remote booster could this bwe my problewm are the cylinders different

Answer
Yes, the pedal travel is much less on the power brake type master cylinder.  You need a part number B2-2140-B. You don't say what year the power brake car was, but I, assume it is a different master cylinder - check the number.  If it is the same number, then perhaps the push rod isn't adjusted right - set it for 3/8 inch free play at the pedal.
