Classic/Antique Car Repair: 12 volt conversion, hobart welder, wire alternator

Question
I have a 1950 cj3a 6 volt and i want to change it over to 12 volt. where do I  start? im not very good with points ignitions! They were a little bit before my time.My original starter had the starter button on the floor. But it was bad, so I
got a starter out of an old Hobart welder with a willys engine. It doesnt have the starter button on it. It has a three terminal starter relay on
it. I bought a GM one wire alternator but I'm not
sure where all the wires hook-up at.I had everything hooked up but i'm not getting any spark for some odd reason. All i'm trying to do right now is get the motor running so I can move on to the body because im going to buy a wiring harness when  I get The body back on.Thank You

Answer
Hi Dave,

Going to 12V is easy if you go step by step! First the points in a 6V or 12V are the same. The condenser and coil must be for 12V. Plus the coil you got(12V) is it a ext. resistor or internal?(will say on the coil)Was the 6V a Internal type? What are you using? Did you change the condenser to a 12v one? that starter you said has three terminals one big one(battery+) then two little ones? R and a S or I? you need a starter relay (like 65 ford)or 65Chev. that has the R and I or R and S... Email me back on what you have done! I am happy to help you step by step!
Tell me also on the GM alt what you have for terminals should be BAT+ on the back and a plug-in on the back or side and what letters? Thank you Dave for the question!
