Classic/Antique Car Repair: 2.5 L GM motor, j c whitney, gm motor

Question
Roger Warrington,
I have a 2.5L Iron Duke that I wish to place
in my 1926 truck.  Campartment not big enough to use a V8.  Wish to know if I can take and use a short shaft auto trans from a S-10 V6 and bold it up to the 4 cylinder.  How about the flywheel, with I have to use one out of the V6 as well or just stick with the one out of the old automatic that came with the 4 cylinder?

Answer
hi fred'
it sounds great what you are doing ,I never did anything like that and I do not want to tell you something that I don't know about, but did you try the co. J.C.Whitney as they have kits for all types of makeovers.
so check with them as they might have a kit or most of the parts that you will be needing, and you can also get a drive shaft made for it when the time comes, so dont worry about what drive shaft to fit. I only wish I could help you more. And you might also end up haveing some welding done on the frame or mounts but it will be nice when  you are done.
good luck-I would use the flywheel that came with the tranny.if it will fit, also starter will it fit.
please if you need any other help e-mail me ok.
