Classic/Antique Car Repair: 66 mustang, volt line, fuse box

Question
I recently purchased a 66 mustang coup. The radio doesn't seem to be getting any power to it. How do I check this out? I checked the fuses box and all are good. Has me baffled. The same with the defroster it just doesn't work any ideas?

Answer
Jack,
If you don't already have a repair book for your car (Chiltons) you may want to purchase one. This book will show you all the wiring for this car. The best way to troubleshoot the power problem is to use a 12 volt test lamp with a sharp metal probe on it. This way you can poke it into a wire without damaging it and follow the 12 volt line for the radio power from the fuse box to the radio.
