Question
I have a 1953 Kaiser, The engine seens a little slugege Its an automatic  I took compression test and is as follows
#1 100lb  #2 95lb  #3 100lb  #4 110lb  #5 95lb  #6  95lb .  I dont know what it should be but I think around 140lb.  The car has 51000 miles and leaks oil out thr rear of engine, Also I squrted a coupple pumps of oil fron a squrt can in each cylender and re took the compression and it was the same, would it be wise to pull the engine and put rings and inserts. I have both front fenders and hood off already, seems like a good start.

thanks
Bill

Answer
Hello Bill,
Sorry i could not get back yo you sooner. I have been sick!

Bill the commpression ratio is 6.9 to 1. and should be around 120 psi. sounds like worn rings or leaky valves. to one cylinder with 110 psi was good. The rear seal is leaking oil its time for a rebuild. Remember to soak the new rear seal in oil over night. If you ned more help e-mail me....
