Classic/Antique Car Repair: Hello, I have a few questions..., antique chevy, aluminum intake

Question
Hello,

I have a few questions about '68 and '69 C3 generation Corvettes. I have loved this generation of the car for awile and now have the financial resources to make a purchase. I have previous experience maintaining and restoring a '73 Fiat, but I have a feeling an antique chevy is a completely different animal. My question is, what are some of the key mechanical and cosmetic characteristics I should pay particular attention to when inspecting a vehicle. I am not afraid of doing some restoration work, but a frame-off job is out of the question. What are some typical signs of wear and what should I consider when making this purchase decision? Thanks for your help!

Answer
ok listen to the engine for any knocks-pings-etc. check if oil is brown or black dirty. check brakes- check if the car pulls when driving straight w/o hands on the wheel does it pull than step on the brakes does it pull ifso something is wrong any knocks in the motor whats up with that, clutch slip ? and if a auto if it makes any knocks -clanks-slips ?. there is a lot to look for so i would say go to     ( www.channel4.com ) and you will find all you  will need to tell  you  what  and all to look for i hope i have helped you.
good luckalso; note look real carefull at the dip stick for any white type substance if so it is most likly water stay away unless you wan to rebuild a costly engine. check for any dings -accidents- bodywork-etc- listen good to the engine and listen for knocks or pings at apx 800 to 100 r.p.m. hold it there and listen good for anyknocks. if you hear any knocks and thay sound as if it is comming from in the center area of the engine . throw the motor and build a sleeper as far as the body work the cleaner the meaner keep it like it came from the show room. dont add tham goofy crap as it dont make the car go faster or save you on gas.
put the bucks under the hood and the only thing is that you might have to change a hood if you put a hi rise aluminum intake manifold, and maby not. you will be looking all show
room clean than you rev about6-7000rpm and burn them tires and leave the cop in the dust !zoom-zoom-
