Classic/Antique Car Repair: Corvette overheating, flow kooler, coolant level

Question
I have a 1968 Corvette with a 1979 350 crate motor in it. I have had it for 3 years and all seemed fine until this year. It warms up fast and holds at about 200-210 degrees while driving 50-60 mph. If I should stop at a light and idle for 3-4 minutes, the temp rises and I get steam from the overflow tube. Any longer and it's blowing coolant. On my last drive it was 60 degrees outside, drove 20-30 minutes at 60 MPH, and the temp still hovered at 210. I can't seem to get my mechanic to take this problem seriously. He says they all have a problem, don't idle and you'll be fine. I'll give him all of my tickets for running red lights !! In the past it wasn't an issue and it never ran hot. The last time it was in, he said he did a pressure test on the radiator, found a couple of loose clamps, tightened them, put on a new radiator cap (16 lbs.), and added 3-4 qts. of coolant. My theories are these: air in the system due to the low coolant level, bad water pump,or a stuck thermostat (replaced end of last year). If it's a water pump, I'm considering one of those hi flow types (Flow Kooler).
What do you think? Thanks

Answer
can i ask you something  do you have a thermastadt in that car, if so take the dam thing out and see what happens, if not that do a psi  test it will show you where the leak or problum is, a reg. water pump is fine by me but a good clutch fan would be good to keep you cool also do tou have a shrowd around the radeator if not that could cause heating conditions also. try no thermastadt. let me know ok
bigw45/roger also is the timming on the mark as the timing will  also cause heating and pinggin, and if the distributoe is in wrong as if it was put in a tooth off can also cause heating conditions  check that stuff out ok.
hea  is your fan belt slipping ? or is the radeator bad? plugged ? try to give the engine a good engine flush and clean the cooling system out good first remove the thermastadt,i never used them
ALSO; DID YOU HAVE ANTIFREEZE IN IT / I HOPE THAT YOU ARE OK BY NOW LRT ME KNOW OK
