I get static from my 1961 AMC rambler American Radio. What can I do to correct this?

Have you tried using an external test antenna plugged into the antenna in jack on the radio to make sure the factory antenna isn't at fault. If the antenna test doesn't correct the problem, the fault may be with the RF amp section inside the radio. Something as simple as a defective solder connection or a defective RF amp transistor.
