Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1948 Chevy Pick Up, street rodders, car folks

Question
I'm recently retired and have had a 30 year dream that I am now thinking about acting upon. I'm looking at a restored 1948 Chevy PU and have a question regarding the front suspension that was used in the restoration. The owner/builder used what he refers to as a "Nova clip" which I believe is the front suspension from a Chevy Nova. Do you have an opinion on this kind of set up? I'm not mechannical and really do not have any knowledge one way or the other. The only thing I do know, is that I can't afford to make a mistake...this will have to be my first and last classic truck. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration regarding my request.

Regards,

Jim Rouse

Answer
I don't agree with modifying cars - I'm in the hobby to preserve them the way they were from the factory, so I don't even respond to questions involving modified vehicles.  There was nothing wrong with the factory design - they were really tough trucks as built (I drove one for over 25 years!), and I can think of no earthly reason to change anything.  The street rodders and custom car folks feel different, I know, but that is their business.  To me it is like putting a mustach on the Mona Lisa.
