Question
i have a 76 amc pacer its a single barrel carb i just want to knwo if it is possible to but i bigger carb one such as a double or a 4 barrel and how would i know which one would fit thanks

Answer
Your engine is designed for the original type carburetor by some engineers who spent 8 years studying at a major university to learn how to do it.  If you have the same qualifications, perhaps you can improve on their design. If you do not, then I think you are headed for trouble by trying something like this.

Your intake manifold will only accept a single barrel carburetor, if that is what was originally supplied for the car.   If you want to change to a 2 bbl or 4bbl carburetor, you have to change at least the intake manifold.

Good luck, no matter what you decide.  These were very well designed cars, with adequate power for their intended use.  If you are going racing, perhaps you have picked the wrong car?
