Classic/Antique Car Repair: Graham-Paige Supercharger., graham paige, steering wheels

Question
I have a complete supercharger assembly for a Graham-Paige car, It is functional and seems to be in good shape. What years did Graham use these and is this an item someone may be looking for?

Answer
These were standard equipment on the 1935 Custom Eight (1862 built) and "75" eight (1252 built).  In 1936, they were standard on the "110" (5500 built).  In 1937, they were standard on the "116" (5551 built) and the "120", (200 built).  In 1938-9, they were used on the "97", (2410 and 2479 built), respectively.  In 1940, the "107" (approx. 100 built) and in 1941, the last year, on the "109", production uncertain but less than 1859, probably less than half that number.  There is mention in the literature of these being available on some 1934 models also, but I have no data on quantity or model number.  The total for all years is somewhere around 20,000 superchargers built.

To answer your second question, yes, these are definitely desirable items.  On eBay, I would expect one to bring around $300.  This is the sort of thing that many people rat-holed when they scrapped out a car - now (like Tucker steering wheels and radios) they are starting to come out of the woodwork (or peoples barns.)  Since the car is rare itself, the buyers are few and far between, but run it on eBay, someone will buy it!

Good Luck,

Dick.
