Classic/Antique Car Repair: 69 Camaro hood question, hood latch, 69 camaro

Lately when i drive and i hit a small bump my hood pops open and the safety catches it. I dont know y its doin this. could it be because i raised the front of the car up an inch off the frame when i put on a new bracket when i replaced a rusted one? Or is my assembly bad? any ideas? thanks, James

Better track this one down - it could be really dangerous!

My guess is that your hood latch has come out of adjustment.  Just study the way the latch holds the hood down - I don't remember the details on your car, but I'm sure a good look and common sense will lead you to the right way to fix it.  If you have an inside the car type hood release, your cable might be hanging up in the sheath, keeping the latch from returning all the way to lock position.
