Dodge Repair: Mini-van fan relay failure: 98-00

Hello again,
     As you provided such good information before I am once again seeking your knowledge on vehicles.
I have a 1998 Plymouth Voyager
My brother has a 2000 Dodge Caravan

Both vehicles are having unexplained Cooling Fan Failure with the engine light coming on. ( The OBll code P1491 radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit open or shorted condition in low speed radiator fan control relay circuit )

Changed out the control relay twice. Failure re-occurs within 2 weeks. Creating the same problem.

NOTE: The fans all work when hot wired.

Hi Lynn,
Those "solid state" fan relays were subject to failure due to over-heating at the location where they are mounted. Also the mounting bracket and fasteners are necessary to dissipate the heat they experience. So either give special effort to attach the bracket using several fasteners that will improve the heat dissipation or move them to the front bumper support as was done in '01.
