QuestionQUESTION: I own a 2004 Dodge Durango 5.7L. Yesterday every warning light on my dash illuminated, my power windows stopped working and my car registered 10 codes. The truck had no issues prior to this. The issue seems as if it my be related to the brake. When press the brake the warning lights illuminate, the seat belt warning chimes, and the interior lights occasionally come on. I also noticed that the rear passenger turn signal is not functioning correctly. It flashes very dim and alternates between the turn signal and brake/running lights. The scanner read the following codes. U0019 U0020 U0023 U0024 U0141 U0154 U0155 U1411 B1648 and B223D. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ANSWER: Hi Christina,
Having all those different item codes appear at once suggests to me that something which is related to all of them is at play here. All of them are based upon the communication of information system that is called the controlled area network (CAN) and there are actually three such networks.
All of them seem to be centered in the Front Control Module which is located at the front of the Power Distribution Center (the main fuse/relay box located in the engine compartment on the left side, a rectangular box).
Under the lid of the box are fuses, and the specific fuses that power the Front Control Module are numbers: 12,13,18,20,21,22,and 27. I would look closely at each of those fuses to see if one of them may be blown, and even check each to verify that it is working, using an ohmmeter or continuity tester. Ideally you'll find a blown fuse. Otherwise, it is a length process to find each of those codes in the service manual and to try and find a common link which would cause all of them to occur at once.
Does the engine start, run, and is the truck useable? I am impressed with the complexity of the Durango model.

QUESTION: Thank you so much. I assume it has to be one issue causing everything because I had no prior issues and everything occured at the same time yesterday. I will go check those fuses now. The truck does start, run, and drive normal although the rpm guage seems to be idling slightly higher but that also jumps or falls when the brake is pressed.
ANSWER: Also check fuse #14 in the fuse box in the cabin and fuse 28 in the power distribution box. I will await your findings.

QUESTION: We checked all the fuses and tested the ground wires. I think it may be a faulty ground causing all my issues however I am not sure where the ground is located. The wiring diagram says it is G306 and located in the center floor. I was wondering if you had an idea of the easiest way to find the actual location.

That ground is located very close to the occupant classification controller module (part of the restraint system) located under the passenger seat. There should be a ground wire from that controller to G306. Also the right rear turn signal is grounded there which was another of the codes.
While one of the codes, B223D, pertains to that module, I would wonder if just that ground connection would cause all the other CAN B fault codes. So let me know. This is the first time I have been questioned about the CAN B and CAN C fault codes!
