i have ared security light on but no installed system not leeting truck start

What is the year/model/engine (L) of the truck? Where on the dash is security light located and if labeled what is it? Describe what happens when you try to start it. Does it refuse to start, to catch and run, and if it runs how soon does it die, and is that run time always the same?
