Question
I have a 2010 dodge charger rt, i notice this past sunday tha when im on a stop sign and then press the gas pedal to go the rpm goes up almost to 2000, i dont know if its normal or whats wrong?

Answer
Hi Chris,
If it isn't moving forward but the engine rev's then something is slipping. I would first check the level of fluid in the transmission by using its separate dipstick to see if it might be low. If so add ATF +4 fluid but don't overfill it.
Then I would try to get a fault code readout that might give a clue as to what is wrong. You can try to turn the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window in the speedometer unit to see if the mileage reading is replaced by a 4-digit number preceded by a P. If not, then you can also get a readout with a plug-in code reader, often for free at a nationwide auto parts store such as Autozone. If not, then an independent shop will do it for around $40. Let me know any fault code numbers that appear. The ones relating to the transmission would either be in the 0700's or the 1700's.
Please read the PS (below) and respond to it.
Thanks,
Roland
