Dodge Repair: 85 Dodge W350 charging problem, field coil, coil wire

Hi Roland. I have a 1985 Dodge W350 one ton quad cab pickup with a 360 V8. The vehicle runs fine except the charging system doesn't work. I have a new battery and a new alternator. I had the alternator checked and it works. Any ideas? Thanks! -Eric

Hi Eric,
I don't have any wiring diagrams for trucks that go back to the 80's so I can only suggest that you look around for a voltage regulator to be attached to the alternator and consider changing that. If there is none then check that the field coil wire is connected to the engine controller as that would be the alternative way of turning on the alternator as needed. Sorry to not know more for you.
